Art 2010 made by Bodegas Luna Beberide comes from DO Bierzo in Spain and even though I have mentioned about it before, I would like to re-instate the overall growing reputation of this Spanish region, which produces intensely fruity wines full of elegant peppery spices and herbal notes.
This Bierzo wine has spicy cherries when you taste it, I am intrigued by floral notes as well – some violets (can it be Italian?) – it is very elegant, quite woody and warming at 14% abv.
What is different about Bierzo spiciness is that it is not sweet, but rather rich in cedar, wood and herbs. Fuit flavours are generous – cherries, strawberries and some plums on the back. A bit of black fruit layer is enhancing its complexity and richness, but the wine is playful, sharpish with acidity and very nice! It is indeed an art to be enjoyed.
