Barranc Dels Comellars 2012 from Priorat, Spain is an organic red wine. Alcohol 13.5% is surprisingly lower than what you get in Priorat usually (14.5-15%) .
It has been aged for 3 months in barriques, so you can get first hints of woodiness and light touches of sweet spice, but not more than that.
Let’s try it first.
Straightaway (and I know it is not great to jump into conclusions before the description) I can say that it’s what I call organic wine – it is slightly mature, bursting with flavours, complexity and minerality.
Black fruit dominate, but give way to more refreshing red fruit flavours, herbs, and hints of oak. I think oak is amazing – it gives depth, a bit of vanilla hints, but not going over to a sweet side – it is more of cedar and earthy notes.
Truly amazing and highly recommended.
I rate this organic Priorat wine 28/35. Would you?
