Les Jamelles wine is made from Syrah grape from a French region normally associated with the bulk production, Pays d’Oc.
It was a last minute purchase at ‘Co-Op’ – so frankly speaking, no major expectations at all. Yet let’s see what this bottle offers.
For the budget wine it offers a good and straightforward nose of bramble and black fruit. Tasting it, it won’t disappoint – it is expressive with simple, but definitely not very subtle flavours of bramble and black fruit with a bit of vanilla and more sweet spice. That spice is a hint of nutmeg.
It is so typical for the hot region so when I was picking this bottle to open, I did guess Pays d’Oc region – it is definitely not as complex as premium areas of Cote du Rhone, but not that robust and warningly round an intense as Languedoc Roussillon.
Overall, it is a good budget Syrah wine, so if you are at ‘Co-Op’ then have it as a fruity everyday dinner pleaser.
