Adobe Reserva 2013 is an organic red wine made from Carmenere, a popular Chilean grape that has been organically grown in Colchagua Valley.
When someone called me a wine geek recently, I just thought I would need to back it up with something, so here you go, a few geeky facts about this wine:
1 – This wine is made at Emiliana – the most prominent organic and biodynamic estate in Chile, particularly at the vineyards of Emiliana Orgánico (formerly VOE).
2 – Acacia trees are grown around the vineyard to draw nitrogen from the atmosphere into the soil, and plants are grown to make homeopathic treatments which are subsequently used on the vines.
3 – Alvaro Espinoza is a name of winemaker. It sounds so authentic now.
It’s made from Carmenere, a popular Chilean variety, which is giving us a generous amount of black fruit, bramble and sweet spice. It’s not spicy, but quite round with a ripe plum, dark cherry and bramble compote. Very juicy and round.
Very good wine for those who like this rich and robust, but somewhat sweet Chilean style. This one is very representative of a country and a variety – an organic factor is an additional plus. It is a very good organic Chilean wine.
Can be sourced at Vintage Roots or Abel&Cole at approx. £8.9
